Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Shop Foreman is to provide execution-focused operational support through the oversight of yard operations, tools, equipment, and material logistics. This role ensures field crews are job-ready by maintaining the condition, inventory, and delivery of equipment and materials in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Own inventory, condition, and readiness of all tools and equipment.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules and equipment repairs are executed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop and yard environment.
- Ensure materials are ordered, staged, and delivered to job sites according to schedule.
- Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites using company vehicles.
- Respond rapidly to urgent job site needs to minimize operational downtime.
- Coordinate with Project Foremen to confirm daily and weekly job site readiness.
- Verify crews have required tools and materials before work begins each day.
- Identify and eliminate logistical blockers in the field.
- Track asset usage, location, and condition through a documented system.
- Implement loss control practices to reduce damage, theft, and material waste.
- Ensure tools and equipment meet all safety regulations and company standards.
- Support site safety through provision of appropriate and functioning equipment.
- Continuously improve yard organization and operational logistics.
- Propose and implement standardization of tool kits, staging processes, and delivery procedures.
- Supervise and support yard personnel in daily operational responsibilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not oversee staff
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience using power tools and lift equipment
- Experience and/or training working on ladders, picks, and scaffolding a plus
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude with construction tools and equipment
- Organizational skills for managing shop and job site logistics
- Effective communication and coordination with field crews
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and compliance
- Ability to track inventory and manage tool/equipment usage
- Valid driver’s license; ability to operate forklifts/trailers
- Experience with loading trucks and rigging a plus

Work Environment
- Indoors and Outdoors construction settings
- Moderate to loud noise levels
- Routine exposure to dust, fumes, weather conditions, and construction-related hazards
- Work may involve uneven or slippery surfaces, overhead work, tall ladders, and proximity to moving or powered equipment
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing
- Ability to work at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment
- Ability to perform overhead work and repetitive hand and arm movements
- Sufficient vision, hearing, and coordination to safely operate tools and work in a noisy construction environment
